First of all: It’s such an injustice calling a koeksister a doughnut. It’s not a doughnut. It has a unique flavour and texture because of how it fries (because of the twist) and because it gets dunked in the warm syrup. I’m from South Africa and it is not a doughnut. Cape Malay put the coconut on it, where the rest of South Africans generally don’t. Secondly: What they made weren’t koeksisters. Koeksister are braided/twisted in 2 or (traditionally) 3 strands. This is their own creation, which is not a koeksister.

Not total rubbish and certainly not an injustice. They made koesisters, which is a dough ball (similar to a doughnut) that is soaked in syrup and then rolled in coconut. It was just spelt wrong. Well done to them for honouring Cape Malay cooking.

Typical reality show there was more drama on this episode than there was actual cooking

I don’t know if I can handle this season – it just feels like rage bait. Every season has had it’s arrogant team, but this season seems to have way too high a ratio of unlikeable contestants
